The Importance of Spontaneity

Hola gorgeous people. I hope you are all doing well this glorious Christmas Eve-ning.

Today's post I thought of completely randomly (spontaneously if you will) after I decided to be a bit spontaneous today. Basically my friend texted me last night asking if I wanted to go to the theatre today with her (to see Everybody's Talking About Jamie for the second time haha) and I just threw all caution to the wind and said yes.

This is unusual for me as while I am always happy to make random plans with my friends, it is normally just going round to their houses or popping to a local restaurant for lunch on a whim and no money. NEVER have I EVER made plans to go up to the Big Smoke (aka London for my fellow Gen Z'ers') on my own without properly thinking it through. Also my original plans for today were to veg out on the sofa and begin the eating before Xmas lunch tomorrow which I was looking forward to considerably so to have those plans changed was a bit of a surprise (but a lovely one).

London is scary... it is full of people on a daily basis, you always hear about crimes happening and at Christmas it is always 1000000% more packed with people. So the bold decision to go on Xmas Eve was noted and contemplated for merely a few seconds.

Also I have never travelled on the London Underground by myself. I've just never been in a situation where I would be forced to go alone on the tube and that is mildly terrifying. I am also quite the over-thinker meaning that I always think of the worst possible situation before thinking realistically.

The plan was to take the tube for half an hour by myself into Leicester Square where I would meet my friend. I was a bit nervy on the train (which was not helped by the weird woman who placed herself opposite me and proceeded to stare unblinkingly into my soul) and again on the escalator (which has always terrified me- does no one else find the ones on the tube really claustrophobic?) but I made it out alive (yippee) and managed to find my friend without too much difficulty. After this we hung out for a few hours and mooched around London (namely Carnaby Street which is my utter fave) and then went to the theatre where we sat right in the front row for next to nothing and saw a really great show.

This is gorgeous Carnaby Street with all of its Christmas decks up- this year the theme was 'Queen' (the band) which are pretty much my fave so all was good :)

There is the most adorable cafe on Shaftesbury Avenue called funnily enough 'The Theatre Cafe' and today was my first time in there and wow it was so cute and dinky. There were loads of bits of memorabilia from shows that had been in the West End and here is a cheeky snap of some of the posters they have on the walls (signed by the casts obviously).

Anyways the point of this little anecdote is that I agreed on a whim and ended up having a really great day, in fact it was one that will probably be one of the highlights of this year for me. And this is advice that I would give to anyone. Whilst its obviously good to plan some things in life, the best way to live every day to its best potential is to just go with the flow, accept that things will happen that could change your plan and embrace them all in the name of a good time. I can honestly say that some of my best memories are ones that were made up of very little planning. Also planning can be super stressful and why would you inflict that on yourself if you can avoid it?

And so to conclude this post I wish you all a very Merry Christmas (or a Happy Holidays if you do not celebrate on the 25th). Have a rest and a chill before we start it all again in January!!

Lots of Love
