Why Having A Cold is the Absolute Worst

Hello everyone. If you have not already gathered by the title of this post, I have been struck with the silent but deadly common cold... For the second time this winter... Luck has just not been on my side recently.
In case you were wondering (which I can almost guarantee that none of you were cos who honestly cares lol) I have a really really bad sore throat. I may be exaggerating ever so slightly but we all get it- when you suddenly get a bout of illness you always believe that it is worse than it really is. I just don't understand why mother nature finds it amusing to throw things like the common cold at us when we least expect it (in the alleged words of Queen Victoria, 'We are not amused') and even though we always see it coming when the seasons inevitably change we never believe that we will be the ones inflicted to the point where we go through whole tissue boxes like its NBD and chug Lemsip (which is vile) like its going out of fashion (which unfortunately it most certainly is not).
Let's just cut to the chase. Being sick is sh*t. Even if you pretend to be a strong person who lets nothing get to you, you have to admit that it is a minor inconvenience at best (and on the inside you are silently cursing your immune system with every breath that you cannot take out your nose meaning that you are forced to open your mouth awkwardly every thirty seconds).
Snotty tissues are NOT glamorous. Coughing fits aren't cool. Head colds are not hot. And yet we all suffer from the same every damn year.

The common cold virus literally comes back in a different form all the time. That's why every cold you have affects you differently (cheers to my Year 9 science teacher for that fact). Sometimes just your nose blocks and other times you suddenly feel almost dead from the inside which is always fab to know as it could literally strike you anywhere when you least expect it.
I just want to send a little message to the common cold, in the words of the iconic Mean Girls, 'YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US', meaning that the common cold is simply not WELCOME in my household or in any for that matter. The poor dear is just a bit attention-seeking and is like a small child nagging at you to not forget them as you continue to be the true diva that you are.
But I call out to all of you who feel my pain- maybe you have been inflicted with this virus at present- KEEP FIGHTING MY LOVELIES. It may not be fun and it may leave you feeling like crap for a few days but at the end of the day it is just a little cold and thankfully not life threatening. CHINS UP and NEVER let this irritating little bugger bother you for more than a few moments.
And to those lucky to have a fighting fit (haha) immune system kindly go visit a friend who has not been so lucky (obviously wear a breathing mask as you do not want to jinx yourself) and remind them of how fantastic they are (even if their noses are red and blotchy and they feel like crap).
Keep being fabulous and fight through this winter darlings because you are not alone and hopefully in my next post I can be a little bit more positive!
Lots of Love,
Glitter in the Grey xxx
